At the Memphis headquarters, their executive team discussed goals of trying to achieve their message within three minutes, with the hope of an equally impressive one-minute commercial. Rove’s team diligently dove into the creative process knowing our commercial could be seen by millions, all over the world.

We felt it was important to draw the audience in with what they knew, and then delight them with what they didn’t. The result was a thrilling journey through the city and culture of Memphis with an escape into a beautiful rural wonderland. From camping to fishing, from music festivals to kayaking, we kept the audience guessing and engaged.

It didn’t take long for our work to start spreading like wildfire across multiple TV networks. Media buys were made for all local NBA games, and the commercial was pushed to all those that were excited to watch the Memphis Grizzlies, knowing their interest in sports would align with outdoor activities.

After TV spots, our work started making the rounds on all social platforms as well as becoming the new home page for Memphis Travel’s website. This displayed the confidence our client had in the value of what we had produced, and would also reinforce how audiences reacted to the final product.

There were plenty of tears for everyone once the final version was released and deployed across multiple media platforms. The Band Camino, who’s song was chosen as the soundtrack, were interviewed and said they get chills every time it comes on TV, “it’s exciting every time I see it.” They said they cried the first time seeing it, and that it made Memphis look great, in which the host emphasized “It honestly is the coolest thing I have ever seen.”

This was no different to when the staff at Memphis Tourism watched it, saying that colleagues cried because they were so proud of their unique city. That was what our team at Rove placed most value in, knowing that we were empowering those types of feelings and responses from audiences.
